The Winter Effect On Your Hair

Winter Effect Hair and How to Fix ItThere are a lot of good things about winter, bad hair conditions are not among them. Especially for ladies, your hair suffers during the winter. Winter effect causes split ends to dandruff, we all suffer in one way or another. Here are some tips to help you look your best during the cold season!

Winter Effect Causes Brittle Hair

When the moisture outside drops, your hair can become dry and brittle, leading to a weaker appearance. You can fix this by easing up on your hot tools, such as curling irons and hair straighteners. Also, try to add more moisture to your hair by using hydrating shampoos and leave-in conditioners.

Static

When temperatures fall, hair tends to static as it gains electrons from the air as there is no humidity or moisture to counteract the energy. To fix this, try to keep moisture in your hair. Try to use hydrating shampoos and conditioners as well as stepping back from your usual hair-dryer.

Split ends

In the winter, the cold weather and lack of moisture can cause your hair to break or “split”. The only way to fix that is to go into the salon for a haircut and keeping your hair moisturized so it doesn’t become brittle and break off again.

Matted Hair

As soon as winter starts, your hair gets stuffed into the nape of hoodies and jackets. This causes the hair to become matted. The best way to counteract matted hair is to keep it away from the collars of jackets and scarves. Wear your hair up in a braid or bun. Even ponytails can be rocked with a good winter outfit and you can avoid matting!

Dandruff and Itchy Scalp

Because of the dry air, your scalp becomes dry. This leads to dandruff and dry skin. A good way to fix this is to use less shampoo and more conditioner. The shampoo usually contains chemicals that dry your hair and take out necessary oils while conditioners add a protective layer to every strand. You can also use medicated brands such as Head and Shoulders to ensure a healthy scalp and hair.

The Long Bob

An evolution of the lob trend, this style is a good go to style if you are in the process of growing out your hair. Minimal layers and texturized ends will help you get this look that is being worn by celebrities all over the red carpet. It’s cute, fun, and will set you up for even more length as you grow your hair out.

Textured Fringe

If you’ve been thinking of taking the plunge and going full bangs, now is the time to do it. The look for 2016 is all about textured bangs, and for good reason. It will give you the edgy, carefree look that everyone wants, and you can have it. Just talk to our stylists about how you can work with your new look, and we’ll give you tips, tricks and the right products to use.

Petite-Coif

This cut is going to be the “It” cut of the year. Think of the pixie cut’s funky sister and this is the look you get. Short hair, with varying length on the top and on the sides. It’s fun, flirty and is proving to be the big cut of 2016.

Contouring cut

This clean and posh look popped up on our radars last year and is proving to be a bold trend of the season. This look ditches the layers and instead goes for a angular shoulder length cut that will bring out your facial features and give you that strong cultured look.

Embracing your natural texture

We saw it all over the runways last year, models with their natural hair texture out and proud. 2016 spring fashion is going to revolve around embracing your hair’s natural texture and letting it all hang out.  While this can be easy for some, for others it may be a little more difficult. We can help you get the best cut that will compliment your natural texture so you can be ahead of the trend curve.

Trending Color
